“Your Yes to Jesus is a Yes to the people of God” – ArchBishop Emmanuel Obbo

The Diocese of Jinja on 16th August 2025 received 3 new priests and 7 decons at St. Gonzaga minor seminary grounds, Iganga District. These were ordained by the Archbishop of Tororo, His Grace Emmanuel Obbo, who urged the newly ordained to be missionaries in all the places they are going to be appointed.

He also added that a priest is called to an intense life of prayer, and this is what makes fidelity possible. A Yes to Jesus is what gives the energy, courage and zeal to serve the people of God with sanctity.

The new priests include: Rev. Fr. Jude Tadeo Tikiryamunaku, Rev Fr. James Kanakulya CMF, Rev FR. Francis Akewa MI. Among these new priests ordained, only Fr. Jude Tadeo, born in Nawanyago Parish, belongs to the diocese of Jinja. Fr. James CMF, who was born in Kiyunga Parish, belongs to the Claretians Missionaries, and Fr. Francis MI, born in Namwendwa Parish, belongs to the Camillian Fathers.

The 7 decons ordained include: Dn Samuel Mukose from Namilali Parish, Dn Emmanuel Wamala Mukose from Namungalwe Parish, Dn Emmanuel Muzeyi from Kamuli Parish, Dn Nicholas Kidhekirye from Namunumya Parish, Dn John from Kidera Parish, Dn Godfrey Kikonyogo MI, who also belongs to the Camillian Fathers, and then Dn Charles Lwanga from the Franciscan of Our Lady of the Poor
