The first Bishop of the Dicoese of Jinja was Bishop Joseph Willigers who died in 2012, in the Netherlands. In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed Bishop Charles Martin Wamika as the Ordinary of the Diocese of Jinja. Upon his death on 22nd October 2025, since he was the sitting Bishop or ordinary of the diocese of Jinja, as per the Catholic rite of burial Bishops, the Rt. Rev. Charles Martin Wamika, who was the sitting Bishop of Jinja will be buried in his cathedral of Jinja and that is Rubaga Cathedral, Jinja on Tuesday 28th Oct 2025 and this makes him the first Bishop to be buried in this cathedral since Bihshop Joseph Willigers died and was buried in the Netherlands, though he was Ordinary Bishop in Jinja, Uganda- Africa but was not birdied in Rubaga- Jinja
