Early Life
Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo was born on 7 October 1952 in Nagoke Village,
Nagongera, in present-day Tororo District, Uganda.
He is the son of Pius Othieno and Pauline Awor.
Priesthood & Education
He was ordained a Catholic priest on 13 December 1986 under the
Congregation of the Apostles of Jesus (A.J.).
He later pursued higher studies in Philosophy at the Pontifical Urban
University in Rome, earning both a Licentiate and Doctorate (Ph.D.)
in Philosophy.

Episcopal Ministry
On 27 June 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Soroti Diocese.
He was consecrated bishop on 6 October 2007.
On 2 January 2014, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Tororo
following the retirement of Archbishop Denis Kiwanuka Lote.
Apostolic Administrator of Jinja Diocese
Following the passing of Bishop Charles Martin Wamika,
Pope Leo XIV appointed Archbishop Emmanuel Obbo as Apostolic
Administrator of Jinja Diocese in October 2025.
